For Shoot 02 I explored further the idea of cosmetic photography. I decided to focus solely on one brand and create magazine-like covers for these photographs which included adding text to these photos and background to add more to the photo. Here are the best four edits of mine:
In this edit, I decided to place a purple background on the photo and it made the photo overall brighter, I then decided to add a rainbow gradient to the photo, however, this did not come out as the standard rainbow colours and it was like a pastel variant of the colours and I think this fits better as it blends in with the background more. Originally I planned on leaving the background the way it was but I decided to experiment with different gradients and different directions of the gradient to come to the final product of the second image. I added a small bit of text into the image to add a magazine feel to the image although it differs from the amount of text on the other images and is only a small amount to showcase the brand name.
For this edit, I again added a rainbow gradient as this has become a key theme in this photoshoot. I decided to add it to all of my photos to add some extra colour to the photo and to the magazine cover. this edit I added some text onto it to create the magazine effect and I added the phrase "limitless beauty" onto the photo as it was a phrase I thought would fit the theme of these photos.
You can see that in the second photo, the edits are simpler, and I like this better as there is not too much going on in the photo and the lines are consistent whereas in the first edit there is no real point to the circles and they are kind of meaningless.
The original of this is very different, with only one product in the front, but I edited these to get rid of the extra space, by repeating the product and placing more of the product in the photo by editing it in Photoshop. I changed the vibrance of the product in the first photo to make the pink and the brown more visible, and it also made the water droplets stand out more. I added a slight rainbow gradient to the first one just to add a little bit of colour to the background and make it less boring. However, I switched it up on the second one as I added more rainbow to the front, consequently it dimmed the vibrance of the product in the front.
For this edit, I wanted to make the water droplets stand out, as well as adding some text to the photo to give the magazine cover look to it. I think that the way the gradient is placed really adds to the phot as it makes the text stand out more and it also adds colour to the water droplets in the background in selected areas. I added details to the photos like the brochure number and the website for their products. I really like this edit because of the wat that the rainbow gradient did not dim the background, in fact, I think it added to the colours and the vibrance of the black background.
